Mayes in command. == World War I mine clearance == Following shakedown, ''Thrush'' arrived in Kirkwall, Scotland, on 5 June and served with Squadron 3 of the Minesweeping Detachment which was busy clearing the North Sea Mine Barrage which had effectively contained the German Navy during World War I.
